But also visible on dark fabric. Even on red fabric because of the contrast with the silver. The gauge works great for me! Despite my eye problems I can sew with joy, because I don&#8217;t have a problem reading the numbers and wondering if the measurement is correct.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nNot just the numbers are handy, but also the rectangular whole for marking buttonholes. Place the red line against the center front and mark the buttonhole exactly a couple of millimeters from center front. Right where the buttonhole should be. But the 4 or 5 cm measurement is more of a bottom seam measurement. What about using the 1 cm measurement to measure the distance of buttonholes to the edge? Etcetera.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nFor buttonholes up to 2 cm long, the Clover sewing gauge has a rectangular hole.
