Foundation “The United Fashionschools in the Netherlands”
Saturday the 11th of March we drove to Nunspeet with a car full of products.
In Nunspeet was the gathering of the foundation, a nice, inspiring day with likeminded people!
We like visiting our customers, because we don’t see our customers that much face-to-face. They use our shop or email, phone or whatsapp us. We call these gatherings: beurzen. Which means a gathering. We prepare well for days like this…
We make a presentation…
Around noon we talked about the combination of threads and needles. What kind of thread do I need for my fabric and which needle should I use? We are talking mostly about machine needles.
We also touch on the subject of new items in our shop. The attendees are allowed to ask questions during the presentation, which we answered directly. Because of the questions we touched on subjects that were not intended, but that makes it fun and flow naturally. With a bit of humor for a good vibe!
It all starts with an invitation from a foundation or umbrella organisation. We check our calender to see if we have any room in it and if possible we love to participate. The next step is asking how many people will attend and the theme of the day
Then the question: What products will we take with us?
We make a list of the products we want to take with us, promote or highlight. When we will make a presentation we put those products on the list aswell. we always try to coordinate the products we take with the theme of the day.
The next step: Do we have enough in stock or do we need to order more
Not all Niet alle leveranciers zijn even snel met hun leveringen. Vaak duurt het een dag of 3 à 4 voordat een bestelling binnen komt. Bij buitenlandse leveranciers is de levering langer onderweg, want de bezorgers moeten ook de tijd krijgen om het af te leveren. Andere leveranciers moeten eerst produceren voordat de bestelling kan worden verstuurd. En zo is het overal anders, het is soms een flinke puzzel om de artikelen binnen te hebben voor de beurs.
The week before the big day
The week before the big day is here! Now the practical preparations begin:
Making price cards
Making special offers
Placing all the items together that we need on the day like displays, the box for Vilenes and Interlinings, examples, the bag with pens, paper, tape, etc.
Box up all the products
Make a list of the products with the amount we take with us
Making sure the money box has enough change
Arrange what time we depart
The big day
Early in the morning we pack everything in the car, make our lunch, have a cup of coffee and depart. Because we are situated in Haren (in the north of our country) we need to drive a fair way. Ususally more than an hour and a half. Our journey starts very early and that is why we would like to be on our way back before rush hour starts. Fatigue starts to set in at around four PM.
Arrived home…WE NEED COFFEE!
After the break we unpack the car and go home.

The Monday after…
We start with counting and tidying up. All products we took with us will be counted and put away. The sales volume will be inserted in the shop, the stock will be checked and updated.
Annette send invoices to customers that have bought products on credit. She orders new stock and items requested by our customers.
Corry handles the bookkeeping side and checks for discrepancies.
