How to use XTREME PRO outdoor sewing thread
Xtreme pro outdoor thread is thé thread for outdoors. For example pillows for in the garden, boat of lounge sets. Or parasols, sails for ships or shade cover, etcetera
And what about sporting wear, tents and bags, let’s say everything you take with you on a camping trip or hike
Summer is coming and so our boat needs to go back in the water. But first a bit of maintenance, because a small seam has come loose on the boat hood. I had repaired it before, but the thread discolored and became weak because of the sunshine and water. So stitched again with xtreme pro outdoor sewing thread.
Xtreme pro outdoor sewing thread is easy to use and threads through my needle well. The seam of the boat hood I sewed by hand this time, because if I used my sewing machine I had to remove the hood. I use two needles, one at both ends. Now I push one needle through the fabric to the right side, the other ons stays on the left side. Now I make a stitch: push the right needle through and pull the thread through the fabric, then push the left needle out through the same hole. Continue on until you reach the end of the seam, tie off the ends en done! (I cal this the soccer-ball-sewing-method)
Tension strap repair
Xtreme pro outdoor sewing thread is meant for use on a sewing machine so it’s a good thing I need to sew on a new hook on the tension strap. A perfect assignment for Xtreme pro!
First I choose a Jeans Gold needle because it is suited to sew firm tightly woven fabrics like denim, canvas, sail cloth, etcetera. I insert it in the machine. I also spool a bobbin with Xtreme pro outdoor sewing thread. It may be that you need to adjust the tension on your sewing machine, mostly a little more loose. I used a normal bobbin houding and didn’t experience any problems! If it is a problem with your machine, please use a bobbin houding for thicker thread. If you don’t have one of those please contact your dealer.
I make a test piece by sewing through the end of the strap. The stitches look fine so I don’t need to adjust my tension.
I also tried to use a Topstitch Gold needle in combination with Xtreme pro outdoor sewing thread and it worked just as well as the Jeans Gold needle.
Most sewing machines nowadays have automatic threaders, like my machine. When threading Xtreme pro outdoor sewing thread it does not work because of the thickness of the thread. Luckily it’s easy to thread the needle, because the thread is strong enough so I thread it easily. Spooling the bobbin works great as well. No problems!

The soccer-ball-sewing-method
When repairing the boat hood I used this technique to get a sturdy seam.
In the picture you see two black lines that are supposed to be two layers of fabric. The star on the right in the black line is the starting point. Here the thread is threaded through the fabric with a needle at each end. Now you make the first stitch by pushing the needle through at about 2mm from the starting point an pulling the thread through. You do the same with the other needle but in the opposite direction. One needle from right to left, the other from left to right. The green lines are needle 1 and the blue needle 2. At the red bars the needles are threaded through. It’s like emulating a sewing machine stitch by hand.
When you reach the end, tie off. You can fixate them with a bit of transparent nail polish.
