Thread cabinet – the possibilities
Thread cabinets are available in different sizes. From a small 36 colours cabinet to a full 432 colours seralon universal sewing thread cabinet. Also threads like seraflex (elastic sewing thread) and seracycle (recycled sewing thread) are available in a cabinet.
Besides the normal sewing threads there are embroidery threads (polysheen) and topstitching thread cabinets. Actually all types of sewingthead by Amann Group Mettler can be ordered in a cabinet. However universal sewing thread cabinets of 200m bobbins are sold most frequently. Most sewers use seralon universal sewing thead and seraflex and seracycle are good sellers too.

There are 2 types of modules: Thread cabinets that stand on the floor on a drawer cabinet (included) or thread cabinets that are placed on a shelf or counter top.
Which size it will be depends on the number of threadcolours in the cabinet.

A thread cabinet is filled with one box of thread per colour. In most cases there are 5 spools in one box. When you purchase a thread cabinet you get a special price. Mostly it is get 5 spools, pay 3 spools. So: the more colours the greater the deal… 😉
An example:
A thread cabinet of 36 colours has 36 boxes of thread in it. That makes 36×5=180 bobbins of sewing thread. You pay for three fifths = 108 bobbins. So that means you get a whopping 72 spools for free!
